Zipiotegi is a stone-built Basque farmhouse dating from the 19th century in the locality of Aia, at the foot of the mountain of Andatza. In 2020 we began the renovation project to convert the former winery into two accommodation units. During the work we have been careful to respect the work done by the stonemasons centuries ago, while adapting it to today’s standards and progress.
The apartments are equipped with everything they need to enjoy a highly comfortable stay. The peaceful setting, in which time seems to stand still, is a tonic for anybody staying here. Both apartments have outdoor space, but the location of the farmhouse ensures privacy.
In terms of flora and fauna, the natural woodland surrounding Zipiotegi is made up of Pyrenean oaks, together with oak, alder and pine. However, gorse and heather grow around our vineyards.
As for wildlife, it is common to see roe deer emerging from the woods in the evening and, of course, the odd wild boar, badger or fox. There is also a wide variety of birds, ranging from big griffon vultures to other smaller residents, like wrens.
The megalithic site of Andatza, with the same name as the mountain, stands on the mountain ridge made up of Belkoain and Zarateaitz. It consists of a set of megalithic structures from the chalcolithic and bronze age. Specifically, it is made up of eleven dolmens and a cist

Culture
Gipuzkoa is a region packed with tradition, history and art. This means you have a great chance to discover museums of all kinds and subjects, from those devoted to the artists Chillida and Balenciaga to other much smaller – but no less interesting – ones.
Food and drink
Pinchos and banderillas are actually miniature works of art. Something Basques love is “ir de pintxos”, which means meeting your friends to go and eat some pintxos and have a chat. We call this a “pintxo plan”. It won’t be hard for you to find places serving snacks of this kind – all you have to do is head into the old part of any town and there you can savour the pintxos in different bars. It’s a simple as that.
Txakoli (pronounced “chacolee”), txakoli wineries, cider, cider breweries, cheese, preserves, traditional markets and more.
Gipuzkoa has a wide range of food to offer, as tasty as it is interesting.
